5 Summer to Fall Transition Outfit Ideas

It’s almost that time of year again where the heat starts to die down and the cooler weather starts to come in. When it comes to transitioning your favorite fashion pieces into a new season, it doesn’t have to involve buying a whole new wardrobe.

So don’t put those summer clothes away right now, we’re going to show them how you can easily still wear your favorite summer pieces in fall!

Keep in mind, the best part about seasonal transitions in the fashion industry is that many retailers have a huge End of Summer sale during the month of August. We’re having one too!

Make sure you check out our End of Summer sale here. If you need to save money for your fall transitional outfits, we also offer Sezzle and AfterPay payment options at checkout.

Here are our 5 summer to fall transition outfit ideas for 2021!

  1. Transitioning T-Shirt Dresses From Summer into Fall

A T-shirt dress is important for any wardrobe and there are endless possibilities  to transition t-shirt dresses from summer to fall. Take our Mocha T-Shirt Dress for example.

It’s the  perfect grab and go pull-over style, featuring a rolled short sleeve, v-neck, and side pockets! The fact that it’s lightweight means that you can layer this t-shirt dress for a fall inspired look and not get too hot while the weather outside is slowly getting cooler.

In the day time for work, you can pair it with a cute trench, moto or jean,  jacket, and a cute pair of heels. In the evening for a date night, you can throw on a pair of leggings or printed stockings, add some heels or ankle boots.

Throw on some statement earrings and a cute clutch, we recommend our Gold “Around the way” Hoops and “Green Stella Python” Clutch, and you have the perfect summer to fall T-shirt dress outfit for cooler evenings.

Going out during the weekend and it’s a little colder in the day time? We recommend throwing over a thick knitted sweater over our Mocha T-Shirt Dress, some printed leggings or stockings, some ankle boots, a cute straw hat, like our Mauve Emma Straw Hat  and a pair of statement earrings like our “Red Threads” earrings.

2. Transitioning Crop Tops from Summer into Fall

Don’t put up the crop tops just yet. There are endless possibilities for summer to fall transition outfits when it comes to crop tops. With a little bit of inspiration and creativity, you'll be shocked by just how many "new" outfits you can create. Let’s take our White Amelia Crop Top for example.

This ruffled, lanterend, sleeve crop top can be taken into fall without layering for colder weather. When it comes to fun tops like this, that you don’t want to cover up, it’s best to play around with colors that are in season for the fall.  According to Marie Claire, this year’s top Fall colors include

  • Indigo Blue
  • Army Green
  • Clay Brown (brown with a reddish undertone)
  • Red
  • Fuschia
  • Lilac
  • Gold Yellow
  • Silver/Metallic

For the day time, our White Amelia Crop Top would pair well with any of the fall colors listed above in a flare or skinny jeans style. In the evening, throw on some cute ankle booties, statement earrings like our Gold “Around the Way” hoops and a statement bag like our Green Stella Python handbag.

3. Transitioning Palazzo Pants from Summer into Fall

Palazzo pants, or wide leg pants, are a perfect way to easily transition outfits into Fall. Try playing around with prints this fall when it comes to your bottoms. According to Pattern Bank, here are the top prints for the fall season;

  • Decorative borders
  • Layered abstract
  • Monochrome
  • Organized Florals
  • Jungle Prints

Our “Make a Splash” Palazzo Pants is perfect for the layered abstract print look for a summer to fall transition outfit inspo. These high waist, wide leg pants are a mixture of fun, vibrancy and boldness that are ready to make an entrance into your fall wardrobe.

In the daytime, pair them with a lightweight sweater in any color of your choice that’s in the print of the palazzo pants.

Tuck the lightweight sweater into the high waisted pants for a tailored look. For a casual day look for work, pair our Golden Mustard Dior Ruffled Top with some light wash jeans and a pair of cute ankle boots. If it gets chilly inside your place of work, add a long slim fitting cardigan to this look!

For cooler evenings, pair these palazzo pants with a black, mock neck long sleeve bodysuit and a slim tan trench coat. Pair with black ankle booties and a statement necklace like our Python Leather Disc and Tassel Necklace

4. Transitioning Mini Skirts from Summer to Fall

When styled the right way, you can easily bring your favorite mini skirts from summer to fall. Let’s talk about those statement mini skirts! There’s many outfits you can create from a statement mini skirt rather than a dress. Take our Miami Vice Mini Skirt (also comes with a matching top) for example.

This wrap mini skirt with ruching has bold watercolor prints that allows you to be creative with your accessories and tops and shoes! For the day time, pair with an oversized cropped knitted sweater and some ankle booties.

For a day look, pair our Miami Vice Mini Wrap Skirt with a white tank top that’s tucked in, layer with a fun color jean jacket, a cute hat like our Sage Emma Straw Hat and a pair of ankle booties or sandals if it isn’t too chilly.

In the evenings, you can throw on a white turtleneck bodysuit, statement bangles, like our Gold Round Bangles, a leather moto jacket and boots. For a girls night out during the weekend, you can pair this skirt with a white or black long sleeve, plunge neck bodysuit, bold color heels , statement earrings and a cute clutch like our Green Stella Python Bag

5. Transitioning 2 Piece sets from Summer into Fall

Two-Piece sets are all the rave this summer but who says you can’t bring these pieces into fall? We love two piece sets because they’re so versatile. You can create multiple outfits with each piece of a two piece set.

Take our White "Own the Night" Set for example. This two piece set includes a smocked top with a tie so you can wear a variety of ways. It also comes with matching high-waisted trousers that have wide, leg pockets, and an elastic band for additional stretch. For brunch with your girlfriends on a chilly day, pair the two piece set with a cute, fitted trench coat, some heels and a statement bag.

Want to take advantage of both pieces of your two piece set. If you own our White “Own the Night” Set, you can take the smocked tube top and tie the strings around the waist, towards the back and make a bow ( instead of over the shoulders).

Then, pair it with a cute pair of high waist flare jeans, in a fall color of your choice. Layer this look with a light weight cardigan for chillier days.

With our wide leg bottoms, pair with an oversized cropped knit sweater in a fall color of your choice. Add some heels and a statement bag to complete the look.

For a date night, pair these wide leg trousers with a long sleeved crew neck bodysuit, a lightweight scarf, heels and a cute bag to match. Another fall look for the smocked top is pairing it with a high waisted mini skirt, leggings or stockings, ankle booties, and a jean jacket.
